Our standard is simple: bold ideas, honestly evidenced. We are drawn to works that make a strong claim and then earn it — where the writing is a pleasure to read and the sourcing would satisfy a specialist. We publish for the curious general reader first, without ever writing down to them.

Author & Editorial Leadership

Adam Baker is an independent researcher and writer dedicated to uncovering the origins of everyday human technology, with a special focus on the ancient Mediterranean and the Nile Valley. His multidisciplinary background—spanning graphic arts and complex tech systems—allows him to analyze ancient innovations through a distinctly modern, mechanical lens. A lifelong enthusiast of both engineering and linguistics, Baker’s off-the-page pursuits include tracing classical loanwords, doing his own automotive maintenance, and collecting high-tolerance, zero-maintenance timepieces. He resides in the New York metropolitan area.
